Annual Holiday Light Display To Return

Nov 23, 2018 -

Nearly 600,000 Christmas lights will illuminate Rocky Ridge County Park, 3699 Deininger Road, York, during the 35th annual Christmas Magic - A Festival of Lights. This year, the Parks Department will introduce a new online ticketing system to expedite the admission process and enhance the visitor experience.

Christmas Magic is a half-mile, accessible walking trail that meanders along a wooded hilltop through nearly 600,000 Christmas lights, holiday scenes, and five enclosed, heated pavilions. The spirit of the holiday is featured via animation, displays, visits by Santa Claus, food, a G-gauge train display, and an O-gauge train display.

Christmas Magic will run from Friday, Nov. 23, through Monday, Dec. 31. The exhibit will be closed on Monday, Dec. 24, and Tuesday, Dec. 25. Christmas Magic will run from 6 to 9 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays and from 5 to 9 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

There is an admission cost. Admission will be free for children under age 4 and discounted for children ages 4 to 12, seniors age 60 and older, and groups.

Admission to Christmas Magic on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays is by timed tickets only, which can be purchased at http://www.yorkcountyparks.org. Reservations will be required. No walk-ins will be permitted on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Timed admission limits the number of people attending Christmas Magic, providing a better visiting experience and less waiting in traffic and lines.

Tickets for Mondays through Thursdays are available online and at the admission window. Tickets purchased at the admission window must be paid by cash. ATMs are available on-site. Purchasing tickets online will allow visitors to bypass the ticket purchase line and go directly to the timed ticket entry window. Timed tickets will also be available to purchase in person or by calling 717-840-7440.

All proceeds will benefit the York County Department of Parks and Recreation. The trail may be closed due to inclement weather. For information, including the status of the trail due to inclement weather, readers may call the hotline at 717-840-7443 or visit the website above. Prepurchased, timed tickets will be refunded if York County Parks closes the event due to weather.
