York College's Division of Theatre will present "Shakespeare in Hollywood," a comedy written by York native and playwright Ken Ludwig, at 7:30 p.m. daily from Thursday to Saturday, Feb. 14 to 16. The performances will take place in the Waldner Performing Arts Center on the college's campus, 441 Country Club Road, York.
"Shakespeare in Hollywood" is directed by assistant professor of theater Suzanne Delle. The play was inspired by the 1934 movie version of "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Ludwig has said that the play is among his five favorite plays by his favorite playwright, Shakespeare. After the show premiered at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., it won the Helen Hayes Award for Best New Play of the Year. Ludwig has also received two Tony Awards for his play "Lend Me a Tenor" and Tony and Olivier awards for his musical "Crazy for You."
