Anchor Christian Academy, 530 Milton Road, Lancaster, will host several open houses for interested families at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7; Tuesday, March 12; Monday, April 8; and Monday, May 6. The meetings will give an overview of Anchor's vision and will highlight secondary offerings for seventh through 12th grades, tuition rates, and family commitment.
Although only in its second year of existence, Anchor Christian Academy had full classes last year. Due to its collaborative model of education, the school notes that not every student is an ideal fit for Anchor, so attendance at an open house is essential to each family's decision.
During the school year, students attend classes with professional teachers two or three days per week and are guided by a parent at home on the remaining days. The academic calendar provides a four-week break from classes over Christmas and ends the first week in May. The model aims to prepare students to study independently and develop time management skills, which may ease their transition to college.
Enrollment for new families will start on Friday, March 1. There are also opportunities for potential students to shadow current students during the school day.
