The Jazz Ambassadors, the United States Army's premier big band, will perform at York College, 441 Country Club Road, York, at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 11, in the Waldner Performing Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public.
Formed in 1969, the 19-member Jazz Ambassadors ensemble has performed both at home and abroad. Concerts include classic big band standards, instrumental and vocal solo features, patriotic tunes, contemporary jazz works, and original arrangements and compositions by past and present members of the Jazz Ambassadors.
The Jazz Ambassadors group has performed in all 50 states; in Canada, Mexico, Japan, India, and various countries in Europe; and in joint concerts with the Boston Pops, National Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, and Seattle Symphony. The group has also performed at Carnegie Hall with Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops. The ensemble has also participated in international jazz festivals.
