Line Dancing, Yoga Classes Set

Living God Lutheran Church (LGLC) is currently offering yoga classes and line dancing lessons on Sundays at the church, located at 3200 Horseshoe Pike (Route 322), Honey Brook. Activities are free, but attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items that will be donated to the Honey Brook and Twin Valley food pantries.

The beginner's yoga classes are being offered from 3 to 4 p.m. on Sundays through April 7. "If you ever wanted to try yoga, here is your opportunity to try it for the first time or get back into it if you've not done it in some time," said Beth Defeo, LGLC outreach coordinator. She noted that attendees should wear appropriate exercise gear and bring their own mats.

The yoga classes are being led by congregation member Joan Rumer. "She leads yoga at Tel Hai (Retirement Community) and offered to do it at the church," noted Defeo.

Country line dancing lessons are held from 6 to 8 p.m. and are being offered by Defeo on Sundays through April 7. Defeo, who has been line dancing since the 1990s, explained that line dancing involves choreographed steps that people perform at the same time. No partners are required.

"Lessons are designed for beginners or novice dancers, but we also will do some more advanced dances for those who've been dancing for some time," Defeo said, noting that she offers the classes at the church in three sessions throughout the year.

Lessons take place in the church sanctuary, which features a hardwood floor ideal for line dancing. Attendees are advised to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. School-age children are welcome.

"I have some regulars coming back, but I always welcome new people who want to give it a try," Defeo said. "Families have come and brought children along."

In addition to the activities, the Sunday worship service at LGLC is offered at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school is also offered, and child care is available.
