Lampeter-Strasburg (L-S) High School senior Alyssa Long and junior Anthony Milazzo were honored as Pioneer Superlatives for January. Sophomore Laysha Cooper and junior Anastasios "Taso" Kovack were honored as Students of the Month for January.
Alyssa is the daughter of Matthew and Paula Long of Lancaster. Alyssa is the secretary of the National Honor Society and a member of Student Council. She was a West Lampeter Fair Queen candidate, was a 2018 Burrowes Scholar for Family and Consumer Science, and has been listed on the distinguished honor roll every semester in high school. Alyssa is active in her church and dances competitively with Willow Street Dance Steps. She plans to attend college to study biomedical engineering.
Anthony is the son of Paul and Amy Milazzo of Lancaster. He is a member of the STEM Club, Student Council, Model UN, and the planning committee for the Talent for Change/Pioneer of the Year Show. Anthony has been a consistent honor roll or distinguished honor roll student throughout high school. Outside of school, Anthony plays soccer with PA Classics. He plans to attend college and medical school to specialize in orthopedic surgery.
Laysha is the daughter of Matthew and Marie Cooper of Lancaster. She is a varsity cheerleader and a member of Model UN. Outside of school, Laysha is active in her youth group and volunteers at the Water Street Mission. She enjoys reading, art, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Laysha is considering various career options.
Taso is the son of David and Vivian Kovack of Lancaster. He is a member of the baseball team and helps with L-S baseball camps and clinics. An honor roll student, Taso is also active in his church, where he serves as an altar boy and assists with the annual Greek Food Bazaar and breakfast for people who are homeless. His interests include baseball, fishing, weightlifting, mountain biking, and spending time with family. Taso plans to attend college to study technology education and CADD.
