Quarryville Library, 357 Buck Road, will host an art exhibit featuring the work of Novelda (Bo) Ferguson, a lifelong resident of the Quarryville area. The exhibit will open on Saturday, March 9, when a reception for Ferguson will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. All are welcome to attend. The exhibit will continue until Tuesday, April 23.
The library will showcase Ferguson's linoleum block print Christmas cards, which she printed by hand for more than 40 years. More recently, she decided to reuse the same blocks and paint them in watercolors as a reserve to the print.
After graduating from the Philadelphia College of Art, Ferguson returned to the local area to teach art for the Penn Manor School District for 30 years. For many years, she traveled to craft shows to exhibit her Tole works, paintings made on tin, wood, slate, and other materials. Ferguson has contributed pen-and-ink drawings to each of the Southern Lancaster County Historical Society's annual calendars since 1984. Her current interests are watercolors and ceramics. She has also worked oil pastels.
