Community Calendar

The Community Calendar is a weekly feature of the Community Courier.

Local clubs, civic organizations, nonprofit agencies, schools, etc., that would like to have events or meeting date information published, should contact the Community Courier in writing at least two weeks before the event. No items will be accepted over the phone.

TOPS Meeting

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a weight-loss support group, will meet on Thursday, March 7, and every Thursday), at Tel Hai Retirement Community's Garrett Center in Honey Brook. Weigh-in is from 5:30 to 6 p.m., and the meeting starts at 6 p.m. The first meeting is free to guests. For information, contact Marcia at 484-238-4559.

Good News Club

The Good News Club will meet on Thursday, March 7 (and every Thursday after school), at the Twin Valley Elementary Center, 50 Mast Drive, Elverson.

Children will be able to enjoy games, songs, Bible stories and Bible verses. The club is free, and all students are welcome.

Breakfast With The Bible

Alan Lindsay, senior warden of the Church of Saint Mary at Calvary in Elverson, will host Breakfast With the Bible on Friday, March 8, at 8:30 a.m. at the Morgantown Coffee House, 4997 N. Twin Valley Road, Elverson.

Attendees should bring a Bible and may enjoy coffee, tea, and/or breakfast. The community is invited to participate.

Flute Concert

The Pennsylvania Flute Choir will perform a concert on Saturday, March 9, at 7 p.m. at the Forks of the Brandywine Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1648 Horseshoe Pike, Glenmoore.

The concert is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be received.

Sewing Circle

The Berks County Sewing Circle will meet on Saturday, March 9, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Berks County Heritage Center, 1102 Red Bridge Road, Reading. This month's topic will be "Quilting."

Admission is free, and no registration is necessary.

Hike

The Berks Strollers will hike the Exeter Trail on Saturday, March 9. The group will meet at 10 a.m. at the Exeter Trail parking lot. Drivers should take Route 422 East to its end, which flows into 422 East Business in Mount Penn, and mike a right onto 47th Street. For more details, contact Doris, the hike Leader, at 610-374-3137.

Yoga, Line Dancing

Living God Lutheran Church (LGLC) will offer yoga classes and line dancing lessons on Sunday, March 10, at the church, located at 3200 Horseshoe Pike (Route 322), Honey Brook. Activities are free, but attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items that will be donated to the Honey Brook and Twin Valley food pantries.

The beginner's yoga classes are being offered from 3 to 4 p.m. Attendees should wear appropriate exercise gear and bring their own mats. Country line dancing lessons are held from 6 to 8 p.m. Lessons are designed for beginners or novice dancers.

TOPS Meeting

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a nonprofit weight loss support group, will meet on Tuesday, March 12, from 8:45 to 10 a.m. at The Torch Community Center, located in the Clock Tower Plaza in Morgantown. Neighbors Meeting

Neighbors Caring and Sharing, a Christian woman's fellowship group, will meet on Tuesday, March 12, from 9:15 to 11 a.m. at Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main St., Morgantown. The group will knot comforters for the Mennonite Central Committee, which will distribute them to people in need worldwide.

Chorus Open Houses

Ringing Hills Chorus invites women who love to sing to its open houses on Tuesdays, March 12 and 19, from 6:45 to 9 p.m. at St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church, 1188 Ben Franklin Highway East (Route 422), Douglassville.

Seniors Meeting

The Honey Brook Senior Citizens group will meet at Honey Brook Presbyterian Church, 4331 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook, on Thursday, March 14, at 11:30 a.m. The program will be "Games and Fellowship." All seniors are invited to attend and asked to bring a covered dish to share.

Food Drive

Tel Hai Retirement Community invites the community to participate in the annual Tel Hai food drive being held through Friday, March 29, benefiting the Twin Valley Food Pantry in Morgantown and the Honey Brook Food Pantry in Honey Brook.

In conjunction with National Nutrition Month, Tel Hai is requesting the donation of non-perishable food items and supplies, including canned tuna, peanut butter, cereals, pasta, rice, canned fruits and vegetables, laundry detergent, dish soap, bar soap, paper towels and toilet paper. There is a specific urgent need for the following items: ketchup, mustard, mayonaise and large diapers for children, sizes four to six. Only non-expired, unopened items will be accepted.

Donations can be dropped off at the Garrett Community Center on the campus of Tel Hai, located at 1200 Tel Hai Circle, Honey Brook. For more information or directions, visit http://www.telhai.org.
