Roundtable Plans Meeting

During the next meeting of the Lancaster Civil War Roundtable, local author and historian Mary Weigley will present "Kilpatrick's Raid Around Atlanta, August 18 to 22, 1864." The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 14, at 6:30 p.m. at the Lititz Public Library, 651 Kissel Hill Road, Lititz.

The raid was the third attempt by the Union cavalry to cut the communication and supply lines of the Confederate Army as part of the Atlanta Campaign. Focusing on official reports, diaries, and letters from participants and accounts written after the war, Weigley will tell the story of the 1862 raid, which featured Maj. Gen. Hugh Judson Kilpatrick, through the eyes of both Union and Confederate soldiers.

Weigley is a native of Lebanon County and earned a Bachelor of Arts in American history from LaRoche College in Pittsburgh. She is a quilter and a freelance writer, and she has focused on genealogical research into her family tree.

The program is free and open to the public. For more information, readers may contact lancastercivilwarroundtable@gmail.com, visit http://www.lancastercivilewarroundtable.org, or call Micky at 717-940-7411.
