The Red Lion Community Swim Program has started its spring session. A full range of Red Cross-certified courses is being offered on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings as well as Saturday afternoons on a shortened schedule due to the pool being scheduled to be closed for repair work from Sunday, May 5, until the start of the 2019-20 school year. Class fees have been set for Red Lion Area School District residents, with a higher cost for nonresidents.
Competitive swim practices will also be offered. It is recommended that participants be at least past level 3 of Red Cross lessons. Practices will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3 to 4:30 p.m. for senior and junior high students. Elementary students and swimmers from other districts will practice from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
A Red Cross lifeguarding class will also be offered starting on Thursday, April 4. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 6 p.m. and will run until Thursday, May 2. Participants must be at least 15 years of age by the end of the session and must pass a written and physical skills test. Proof of age must be presented at the first class. A cost has been set.
