Swiss Pioneer Preservation Associates has posted two upcoming sales and auctions, both of which will take place at Big Spring Farm, 735 Spruce Road, New Holland.
A cataloged book auction will be held on Thursday, April 4, at 2 p.m. The auction will feature items relating to genealogy, local and church history, and other subjects. The late Milton Haldeman genealogy collection will be available. Haldeman was a librarian and genealogist who researched local and Mennonite family history. He printed his family's history and helped others print family history books as well. Haldeman liked to visit and study cemeteries, and he also worked on maintaining them.
Also, 31 pages of an original muster roll from the New York area, dated 1842 to 1846, will be sold. Enrollments are from Ithaca, Buffalo, and Rochester, and Philadelphia, N.Y.
A mud sale will take place on Friday, April 26, at 8:30 a.m. Auction items will include antiques, primitive tools, items from early American living, working and craft items, tractors, hit-and-miss engines, tools, farm equipment, and other items. A model Conestoga wagon handmade by Daniel Hoover of New Holland will be available; it comes with a clear case and documents of the craftsman.
Ample food will be available, as well.
