Students Raise Funds For Wildlife Fund

Mountville Elementary School students raised $807 in February to donate to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) as part of their One Book One School Program. Students read Peter Brown's book "The Wild Robot," which tells the story of Roz the robot finding herself on an isolated island that is home to wildlife.

In return for donations, the school received adoption certificates and plush animals to display in the school lobby for each grade that raised at least $55 collectively. The animals "adopted" by the school include a porcupine, sea otter, sea turtle, grey wolf, grizzly bear, red fox, and snowy owl. In addition to giving to the charitable cause, each class decorated its door with the habitat of its chosen animal. On each door, there was a hidden miniature picture of Roz the robot for other students to find.
