Anthony Arters of Lancaster has earned the Eagle Scout Award, the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts. He was recognized in a ceremony on Dec. 30, 2018, at Salem United Church of Christ in Lancaster.
Anthony started Scouting with Pack 67 as a Tiger Scout when he was in first grade. He earned the Arrow of Light before crossing over to Boy Scouts with Troop 64 in February 2011. Since then, he has earned 32 merit badges and has held leadership roles in Troop 64, such as senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, and den chief for Pack 125. He is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow and was able to attend its 100th anniversary event at Michigan State University.
Anthony has given 42.7 service hours and has logged 123 nights of camping with his troop. Anthony has earned the triple crown of high adventure trips by attending Northern Tier, Sea Base, and Philmont. In addition to earning his Eagle Award, he received his Bronze and Gold Palms.
Anthony conducted a food drive for Water Street Mission and collected more than 800 pounds of food for the organization.
The son of Vince and Barbara Arters, Anthony is a 2018 graduate of Hempfield High School and is currently a freshman at West Virginia University, where he is studying engineering.
