Church Holds Groundbreaking

The Episcopal Church of The Trinity in Coatesville held a ceremonial groundbreaking on March 24 in anticipation of its new columbarium. Ideas and plans have been in the works for several years. Committee chair Vic Shanley and co-chair Bill Terry presented their findings to the Rev. Sherry Deets, pastor, and to fellow members of Trinity's Vestry, receiving unanimous approval to move forward with the project.

Cremation and inurnment in a columbarium is an alternative to traditional burial. Included in the purchase of a niche is the care and maintenance provided by the soon-to-be installed Columbarium Committee, which will be responsible for all ongoing matters and responsibility germane to the oversight of the facility.

In advance of construction, Trinity has made purchase of niches accessible to the congregation. The committee, Deets, and Vestry do, however, maintain responsibility and service to the broader Coatesville community as per its mission statement. Trinity plans to reach out to neighboring congregations and funeral homes to make them aware of this addition.
