The York County Area Agency on Aging will host a free class for York County residents age 60 and older to learn how to manage the risk of falling and increase activity levels. A Matter of Balance emphasizes practical strategies to manage falls.
A Matter of Balance targets older adults who have concerns about falling, have fallen in the past, have restricted their activities because of falling concerns, or are interested in improving balance, flexibility, and strength. Participants will learn to view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risks at home, and exercise to increase strength and balance.
A class will be held at York Township Park Building, 25 Oak St., York, from 10 a.m. to noon on Mondays and Wednesdays, May 8 to June 5. No class will be held on Monday, May 27.
For more information or to register for the classes, readers may call Faye Kinard at 717-771-9610.
