Foundation Plans Fundraiser Event

The About Child Trauma Foundation will hold a Derby Day Celebration on Saturday, May 4, at the Conestoga Country Club, 1950 Stone Mill Road, Lancaster, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The fundraising event will kick off with a reception where guests will have an opportunity to show off their derby hat or bow tie and vote for their favorite hats and ties. They may also scope out the horses that will run in the Kentucky Derby. Hors d'oeuvres will be served.

Susan Young Nicholas, a managing partner at Young & Young Attorneys at Law in Manheim, will be honored at the event for her work in finding homes for Pennsylvania children. Nicholas is a graduate of Manheim Central School District and Dickinson College. She graduated cum laude in 1985 from Temple University School of Law. She also serves on several local boards. Nicholas received Permanency Advocate Recognition in the Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network Awards in 2009.

Tickets for the event also include a buffet dinner from 6 to 7 p.m. and the chance to cast a ballot for the winning horse. The event will include a live stream of the Kentucky Derby, which has a post time of 6:50 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the winners drawn for the Kentucky Derby, Best Derby Hats and Best Bow Ties.
