Community Calendar

The Community Calendar is a weekly feature of the Community Courier.

Local clubs, civic organizations, nonprofit agencies, schools, etc., that would like to have events or meeting date information published, should contact the Community Courier in writing at least two weeks before the event. No items will be accepted over the phone.

Maundy Thursday Service

TOPS Meeting

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a weight-loss support group, will meet on Thursday, April 18 and every Thursday), at Tel Hai Retirement Community's Garrett Center in Honey Brook. Weigh-in is from 5:30 to 6 p.m., and the meeting starts at 6 p.m. The first meeting is free to guests. For information, contact Marcia at 484-238-4559.

Breakfast With The Bible

Alan Lindsay, senior warden of the Church of Saint Mary at Calvary in Elverson, will host Breakfast With the Bible on Friday, April 19, at 8:30 a.m. at the Morgantown Coffee House, 4997 N. Twin Valley Road, Elverson.

Attendees should bring a Bible and may enjoy coffee, tea, and/or breakfast. The community is invited to participate.

"Passion: The Musical"

Living Rock Bible Church, 2672 Ridge Road (Route 23), Elverson, will present "Passion: The Musical" by Piercing Word, a Lancaster-based ministry on Saturday, April 20, at 6 p.m. The group, whose tagline is "The Scripture is Our Script," performs word-for-word from the Bible.

The performance will be a dessert concert and a way to remember and celebrate Easter. The event is free and open to the public; no tickets are required.

Easter Egg Hunt

A community Easter egg hunt will be held at Robeson Lutheran Church, 3520 Plow Road, Mohnton, on Saturday, April 20, at 2 p.m. Egg hunts will be offered for toddlers through children in sixth grade.

Hike

The Berks Strollers will hike at the Blue Marsh Stilling Basin in Reading on Saturday, April 20. The group will meet at 10 a.m. at the Stilling Basin parking lot. For more information and directions, contact Deanna, the hike leader, at 610-929-3109.

Easter Sunrise Service

Fairview Evangelical, Faith Alliance and Glen Moore United Methodist churches invite the community to attend an interfaith Easter Sunrise Service on April 21 at 7:30 a.m. at Wagenseller Park in Glenmoore, located at 140 Park Lane at Creek Road. Attendees should bring chairs or blankets for seating.

Banquet Fundraiser

Tel Hai Camp and Retreat's annual Spring Celebration banquet fundraiser will be held at Shady Maple Banquet Facility, 129 Toddy Drive, East Earl, on Monday, April 22, at 6:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for appetizers and fellowship. The guest speaker will be Dwayne Walton, executive director of The Point in Parkesburg.

TOPS Meeting

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a nonprofit weight loss support group, will meet on Tuesday, April 23, from 8:45 to 10 a.m. at The Torch Community Center, located in the Clock Tower Plaza in Morgantown. Support Group

St. Benedict's Bereavement Support Group, designed for those grieving the death of a loved one, will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at St. Benedict's Church Family Life Center, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton, on Wednesdays, April 24 to May 22. The group offers an opportunity to come together to work through the grieving process with the help and support of others who have experienced this difficult journey.

Community Dinner

St. Peter United Church of Christ, Route 23, Knauertown, will hold a community dinner on Friday, April 26, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The public is invited to stop in and enjoy food and fellowship. A freewill offering will be received. For more information, call 610-469-9690.

Chicken Barbecue

Goodwill United Methodist Church, 148 Church Road, Elverson, will hold a chicken barbecue dinner on Saturday, April 27. Serving will take place from noon to 5 p.m. or until the food is sold out.

Gospel Concert

A Gospel performance by Jeff Krick will be held at Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main St., Morgantown, on Sunday, April 28, at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m.
