Students Engage In Special Activities

Anchor Christian Academy students have participated in an array of activities this spring.

Last month, two students from Anchor Christian Academy won awards at the North Museum Science and Engineering Fair. Lucas Horst, a ninth-grader, placed third in the Senior Division's Energy: Chemical category for his project "Ready for Launch." Sara Lang, an eighth-grader, received the Union Fire Company No. 1's award for an outstanding project related to fire science for her project "Does Fabric Softener Affect the Flammability of Fabric?"

During recent field trips to High Steel and Lancaster County Central Park, students learned about the physics of bridges, the process of building girders, and types of careers available in the bridge manufacturing industry, as well as the process of collecting "tree water" and turning it into maple syrup.

While on a hike along the Appalachian Trail, history teacher Bruce Hoover brought the French and Indian War to life for students as they visited the graves of Native Americans and freed slaves and visited the Fort Hunter mansion.

Anchor students had an opportunity to ask Rep. Lloyd Smucker questions on a variety of topics when he visited the school recently.

Families interested in learning more about Anchor Christian Academy are invited to attend an open house on Monday, May 6, and to schedule a day for their students to shadow before school ends on Thursday, May 2. Enrollment for the 2019-20 year is now open.

Interested families may register online at http://www.AnchorChristianAcademy.org. The website also provides additional information about the secondary University-Model school.
