Orchestra Will Perform Concert

The Bear Creek School student orchestra will perform its annual spring concert on Thursday, April 25, at 7 p.m. on the school's main stage. The concert is free and open to the public. Performing during the night of music will be fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade instrumental students.

The fourth-grade ensemble will perform musical selections including the "Big Note Boogie" and "Ode to Joy" from Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. The fifth- and sixth-grade combined orchestra will perform a repertoire including Rossini's "William Tell Overture" and Tchaikovsky's Finale from "Serenade for Strings." The concert will also feature a small ensemble of advanced string students who participated in Hershey Symphony's Festival Strings Youth Orchestra, as well as 12 Bear Creek students selected to participate in the annual PMEA District 7 Stringfest.

The concert will end with all students on stage together to play a short fiddle tune. Justin McLaughlin, the string specialist at Bear Creek, will be directing the ensembles.
