Hometown Series Will Spotlight Mount Joy

The Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, will present "Mount Joy Memories," part two of its three-part "My Hometown" Series, on Wednesday, May 1, at 6 p.m.

Presenter and Mount Joy native Jean Ellis will share a history of the town, including some of Dr. Adam Sheller's memories regarding the very early days of pre-borough Mount Joy villages, taken from a July 4, 1876, article in the Mount Joy Star. The program will feature a slideshow of Mount Joy locations locations past and present.

Ellis is a retired legal secretary and president of the Mount Joy Area Historical Society. She has penned five booklets about Mount Joy history. Two of Mount Joy Historical Society's journals, "Mount Joy Memories" and "Murder in Mount Joy: The Crime and Punishment of Harry Way," will be available to purchase after the presentation.
