On Monday, May 27, a Memorial Day hike and lunch will be held at JPJ cabin, 1143 Furnace Road, Airville. A hike will be held at 10:30 a.m., followed by a picnic with hot dogs and hamburgers. Attendees are asked to bring a side dish to share at the picnic. There is a cost to attend. There is also an option to spend Sunday night at the cabin. Reservations are required by Thursday, May 23. A two-day sawyer training session has been set for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 26 and 27. Anyone who is interested in becoming a certified sawyer, male or female, for the Appalachian Trail (AT) is asked to contact Tom Morley at tommorley@comcast.net. The class will help participants become certified to operate a chainsaw on the AT. There is no cost, but attendees should be willing to do sawyer work on request.
