History Center Plans Programs

"Share Your History! Save Your History!" will be held on Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Information and guidance on caring for family materials at home will be provided.

The South Central Genealogical Society will meet on Sunday, May 5, at 2:30 p.m. Aaron McWilliams, a reference archivist at the Pennsylvania State Archives, will give a presentation on the Blunston Licenses between 1734 and 1737.

Second Saturday on May 11 at 10:30 a.m. will feature "Rare Rock Cave Art to Barn Decorations and Mystery Marks on Historic Barns in Pennsylvania: Manifestations of Man's Secret World." Greg Huber will unfold the story of man's urge to make applications to various surfaces of nature or of his own making.

The annual Ice Cream Parlor at the Olde York Street Fair will be held on Sunday, May 12, from noon to 5 p.m. Visitors can enjoy sundaes, floats, brownies, coffee and soft pretzels on sale to benefit the history center. The museum shop will also be open. There will also be tours of the history center's Colonial Complex, including the first floors of the Golden Plough Tavern and General Horatio Gates House, with a suggested donation amount per person. The Colonial Courthouse will be open to the public free of charge.

The York Civil War Roundtable will meet on Wednesday, May 22, at 7 p.m. "Virginians in Blue" will be the theme.
