Adamstown Area Library, 3000 N. Reading Road, Adamstown, will offer a variety of activities to the community. Registration is required for most programs. Several story time programs will be offered for young readers. An adult caregiver must accompany children to each program. Program activities will include stories, songs, rhymes, crafts, finger plays, and more. Preschool Story Time, for children ages 2 to 6, will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Lancaster County Dairy Princess Danae Gockley will visit Preschool Story Time on Tuesday, May 7, and Wednesday, May 8. The Lapsit Program will meet on Thursdays at 10 a.m. and is open to babies up to age 2. Toddler Story Time, for toddlers ages 2 to 3, will take place on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Bedtime Stories will begin at 6:30 p.m. on May 8, and attendees are encouraged to wear their pajamas.
Technology Night will offer assistance with technology devices at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1.
Friends of the Library will hold a used book sale from May 1 through Saturday, May 4, at Peace United Church of Christ, 37 E. Swartzville Road, Denver. Hours will be 5 to 8:30 p.m. on May 1, with an early bird admission fee; 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2; 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3; and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 4, on which day various special will be offered. A blood drive will be held by the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank in the parking lot on May 4.
Active shooter training will be held on Monday, May 6, at 10:30 a.m. Ephrata Police Chief William Harvey will present "How to Survive an Active Shooter."
American Girl Mother-Daughter Bingo will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on May 6. There is a cost to attend, which will include 20 games. Space is limited.
The library board of trustees will meet on May 8 at 6:30 p.m. The Genealogy Interest Group will gather at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9.
A Star Wars event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 11. Participants will enjoy Star Wars trivia, prizes, giveaways, photos with Star Wars characters, and more.
The Lego Club will meet on Tuesday, May 14, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Participants will make an individual creation based on a surprise theme.
American Girl - After School Craft Program will be offered at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 16. Space is limited. Attendees will create a special necklace for themselves and their dolls.
A walk-in craft program will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 17. Children may stop in at any time to make and take home a seasonal craft.
Virtual Reality and Stop-Motion Animation will be held on Saturday, May 18, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Attendees will explore virtual reality and play 3-D games. Space is limited to 12 youths ages 10 to 18.
Jump Into Science - Moon will be held on Monday, May 20, at 6:30 p.m. The program will be led by a park naturalist and will feature a story, a craft, and more. The program is open to children in preschool through second grade.
Scrabble will be offered to word lovers on Friday, May 24, from noon to 2 p.m. The program is open to adults of all experience levels.
De-stress at the Library: Hold a Puppy will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. on May 24. Individuals age 12 and older are invited to stop by to cuddle with Hank the French bulldog.
Mystery Guest Children's Book Club will meet on Tuesday, May 28, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Attendees should bring a book they are reading for discussion. Attendees will also play 20 Questions to determine the job of the mystery guest. The program is open to students in kindergarten through grade five.
How to Get Published in Magazines will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29. William Harvey will share the steps to getting published in magazines.
