Free Vessel Exams Posted

The local Coast Guard Auxiliary, York Flotilla 19-05, will offer free vessel exams and safe boater information to the public on Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Gander Outdoors, 725 Town Center Drive, York. Vessel exams are voluntary checks of onboard equipment and boating knowledge. There are no enforcement actions or fines. The goal is to increase awareness and readiness to make people safer on the water.

All types of boats are welcome, including kayaks and canoes, jon boats, bass boats, sail boats, pontoons, and power boats. All vessels that pass the exam will receive a sticker that can be displayed on the boat. Additionally, informative and safe boating pamphlets, including coloring books for children, will be available at no cost.
