Area Library Posts Calendar

Adamstown Area Library, 3000 N. Reading Road, Adamstown, will offer a variety of activities to the community. Registration is required for most programs. To learn more and to register, readers may call the library at 717-484-4200.

Several story time programs will be offered for young readers. An adult caregiver must accompany children to each program. Program activities will include stories, songs, rhymes, crafts, finger plays, and more. Preschool Story Time, for children ages 2 to 6, will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. The Lapsit Program will meet on Thursdays at 10 a.m. and is open to babies up to age 2. Toddler Story Time, for toddlers ages 2 to 3, will take place on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Bedtime Stories will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, and attendees are encouraged to wear their pajamas. Story Time with Pout Pout Fish will be held on Monday, June 17, at 10 a.m.

The Summer Reading Program kickoff will take place on Saturday, June 1, from 10 a.m. to noon and is open to people of all ages. The event will include visits to the Adamstown Fire Company next door, games, face painting, food, and visits from service dogs and police officers.

Technology Night will be offered on Wednesday, June 5, at 6:30 p.m. Library patrons may receive help with computers, mobile devices, and other technology.

Asteroid Kindness Rock Painting will be held on Monday, June 10, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. People of all ages are invited to stop by the library and paint rocks to hide or keep.

Two resume programs will be offered. Six laptops will be available to use or participants can bring their own laptop. Registration is required, and laptops must be reserved. Write Your Resume will be offered on June 10 at 6 p.m. The program will help attendees get started writing a resume while also learning some basic digital skills that can help in their next job. Participants will create a resume from scratch using templates.

Edit Your Resume will follow on June 17 at 6 p.m. Participants will learn how to edit their resume to make it more appealing to an employer. Participants should bring a resume in the form of a Google Docs file or a Microsoft Word document. Individuals who need to create a resume should first attend the program on June 10.

The library board of trustees will hold a meeting on June 12 at 6:30 p.m. The Genealogy Interest Group will be held on Thursday, June 13, at 6:30 p.m. and is open to older students and adults.

Monday Meander with Miss Jess will take place on Mondays, June 17 through July 22, at 12:30 p.m. Miss Jess will lead attendees on a fitness walk through a local park. The Summer Lunch Program will begin at noon on Mondays, June 17 and 24, followed by the walk at Reamstown Park and Adamstown Grove Park, respectively.

"The Spirit of Lindbergh" will take place on Tuesday, June 18, at 6:30 p.m. at Peace Church, 37 E. Swartzville Road, Denver. Neill Hartley will portray Charles Lindbergh in this adventure based on Lindbergh's historic 1927 flight across the Atlantic Ocean. The program is open to individuals age 7 to adult.

Family Yoga will be offered on Thursdays, June 20 and July 11 and 25, at 11:30 a.m. for individuals of all ages. Attendees will explore breath, mindfulness, and stories told through yoga.

The Bookmobile will be at Denver Park on June 20 and Wednesday, June 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Local residents are invited to stop by.

A program titled "Little Known Facts About Colonial Lancaster County" will take place on June 20 at 6 p.m. With a focus on the diversity of early settlers in Lancaster County, this program includes background about William Penn and the importance of his stand on religious freedom. The program is designed for adults and older teens.

A Walk-In Craft program will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, June 21. Children may stop by the library anytime during the program to make and take home a seasonal craft.

"That Fabulous Franklin" by Family Stages, a celebration of imagination, will be presented on Monday, June 24, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 80 E. Main St., Adamstown. Two actors will re-create important moments in the life of Benjamin Franklin. The program is designed for children ages 4 to 14 years, but adults may enjoy it, too.

Author Story Time will be held on Wednesday, June 26, at 10 a.m. Author JJ Landis will visit the library to read and sign copies of her three children's books, "Marshall Mellow," "Mia's Wish," and her newest title.

The ventriloquist Mike Mcdade will perform on Friday, June 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 80 E. Main St., Adamstown. The educational show will feature music, puppets, and magic. It is open to people of all ages.

STEM on the Move will be offered on Saturday, June 29, at 10 a.m. Participants will test their science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) knowledge and get their hearts pumping as they wiggle, skip, and jump into the science of movement with the Girl Scout STEM Mobile. The program is designed for boys and girls ages 5 to 11.
