Local Support Groups To Meet

The Living With Loss Support Group, for persons who have experienced death of a spouse or family member, will meet on Wednesday, June 5, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Prayer and Meditation Room. The focus for the meeting will be "Finding Inspiration From Others Who Have Grieved." Attendees are invited to bring along a memento, story, song, or book that has brought healing in their own life. The Caregivers Support Group, for family caregivers of persons with dementia, will meet on Monday, June 10, at 10 a.m. in the Concord Room. The meeting will include a presentation titled "The Impact of Memory Loss on Families" by Jan Mills, M.S.W. Upon advance request, free respite care in Adult Day Services will be available during this group meeting time for those currently enrolled in Garden Spot Village Adult Day Services. The Low Vision Support Group will meet on Thursday, June 13, at 3 p.m. in the Garden Towers. Ed Martin, Enhanced Vision, will share new products to assist people with low vision. The group is designed to provide information and support to enhance independence for persons with any kind of visual losses. The Parkinson's Support Group will meet on Monday, June 24, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Garden Towers. The meeting will include the presentation "Adaptive Equipment and Creative Solutions for Living Life Well With Tremors" by Jason Dickow, OTR/L. Free resources from the National Parkinson's Foundation will also be available. The support group is open to all persons with Parkinson's and their caregivers, family, and friends.
