September House Posts Activities

September House, 1251 W. King St., York, has posted its upcoming schedule of activities. A free lunch is available on weekdays for any York County resident at least 60 years of age. For more information, readers may call 717-848-4417 or email September_House2@yahoo.com.

The Tang Soo Do class is seeking new members. Tang Soo Do, a Korean martial art, is taught by a certified teacher on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. Participants work at their own pace.

The Fit N Fun exercise program is offered daily from 10 to 10:30 a.m. On Friday, June 7, participants will play Exercise Bingo.

A scrapbooking class will begin on Thursday, June 6, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The second class will occur on Thursday, June 13, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. At both of these classes, attendees will learn about options for displaying pages, as well as how to assemble photos and memorabilia in an organized and exciting manner. Participants are not required to buy a scrapbook. There is no charge for the class, and many materials will be provided to enhance scrapbooks.

The senior center will continue its annual "Ask the Nurses" health programs presented by nursing students and their instructors from HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College. The programs include question-and-answer times. The dates, times and topics are as follows: Tuesday, June 11, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., "Spontaneous Fractures Due to Non-Weight Bearing/Lack of Exercise and How to Prevent Them"; Tuesday, June 25, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., "Mental Health - How to Forgive"; Monday, July 1, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., "Diabetes and Nutrition - Sample Diets and Recipes"; Tuesday, July 2, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., "Memory Enhancements - When and How"; and Tuesday, July 16, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., "Back Injuries/Pain Management." Free blood pressure testing will be available at the programs. Reservations are requested but not required, and these programs are open to people of all ages.

The senior center has planned two movie showings. On Friday, June 14, from 1 to 3 p.m., the senior center will show "Mary Poppins" and serve free sweet treats. "Mary Poppins Returns" will be shown on Friday, June 28, from 1 to 3 p.m.
