Students Enjoy Job Shadowing Experience

Students from Harrisburg High School recently teamed up with Traditions management at Traditions of Hershey, an independent living and personal care community in Palmyra, for a job shadowing opportunity. Since the experience was positive, the senior community expanded the learning experience and invited another area high school to participate.

On May 9, students from Lebanon Senior High School met with executive director Mike Lapinsky, who started the day by sharing his work experiences. He informed the students about his leadership duties and the required education needed to fulfill the position.

Students were divided into groups according to their interests and were paired with department managers to discuss various employment opportunities in a senior living community setting, including nursing, building maintenance, marketing, and resident activities.

Resident care director Ali Breski, a licensed professional nurse, talked with several students about her nursing skillset and her daily responsibilities, and she also highlighted different health care-related positions within Traditions.

Other management mentors included Dustin Barna, maintenance director; Marisa Williams, marketing director; and Erica Marsh, resident life director.
