Jun 22, 2019 - 7:00 am

The fifth annual Cycle the Solstice event will be held on Saturday, June 22, to benefit the Horn Farm Center for Agricultural Education, 4945 Horn Road, York. The event will include 30- and 62-mile bike rides through scenic York and Lancaster counties.

Cycle the Solstice offers riders of all ages and abilities an opportunity to learn about local food production while enjoying views of the Susquehanna River Valley. Each route will have riders leaving from the grounds of the Horn Farm Center and completing their chosen, self-paced loop with guidance from road blazes and cue sheets.

Along the trail, riders will stop at local small business farms and markets for refreshments produced at the farms and other local food and agriculture businesses. All loops will return to the farm for a catered post-ride meal and entertainment from the old-time string duo Strings on Wings from noon to 2 p.m.

Proceeds from the event will support the center's new youth education programs. Course maps and online registration can be found at http://www.bikereg.com/cyclethesolstice. Online registration will be available until Friday, June 21, at 5 p.m. Day-of registration will open on June 22 at 7 a.m. for an additional fee.
