York County Libraries has launched the #YCLdiscover photo challenge. Through Friday, June 21, residents age 18 and older are encouraged to take creative photos with large props located at three library locations and share them on Facebook and Instagram.
In Red Lion and Hellam, giant Adirondack chairs sit outside of Kaltreider-Benfer Library and Kreutz Creek Library. In downtown York, there is a large selfie backdrop in the Martin Library atrium and sidewalk decals lining the pavement outside. To enter the contest, participants may create a photo using one of the library props and share publicly with the tags #YCLdiscover and #YCLphoto.
Every Friday, York County Libraries will re-post the three pictures with the most Facebook shares and Instagram likes and open voting for the best picture of the week. The top photo of each week will be one of three competing finalists on http://www.yorklibraries.org the last week of June. Readers are invited to cast their votes for their favorite pictures for a nominal amount per vote during the final week. All proceeds will go to the York County Libraries "Imagine. Discover. Connect." capital campaign. The finalist with the top number of votes will win a 10-pack of tickets to the York Revolution 1741 Club.
The capital campaign will fund renovations at Martin, Kreutz Creek, and Kaltreider-Benfer libraries. All three libraries will feature dedicated space for children and teenagers, open service areas, and additional technology. To learn more about the projects, readers may visit http://campaign.yorklibraries.org.
June marks the final month of the public phase of the capital campaign.
