50Plus Expo Held

Dauphin County's baby boomers, seniors and caregivers joined more than 90 community businesses and organizations on May 28 for the 20th annual Dauphin County 50plus EXPO held at the Hershey Lodge. The free, one-day event provided information and resources for people age 50 and up. Guests could speak with exhibitors about products and services on display in travel, housing, medical services, nutrition, home improvements, finances, health care and more.

Attendees were eligible for door prizes and were offered free health screenings for lower back and sciatica pain, grip strength, blood pressure, and others. Genetic testing for cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and more was also offered.

Harrisburg Kennel Club's puppy hugging corner raised money to benefit the Purple Leash Campaign, which helps pet victims of domestic violence. Chaz "The Entertainer" Matulonis provided entertainment with his vocal impressions.

Jerry Mitchell of the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General discussed the newest scams targeting older adults. Physical therapist Chad Madden of Madden Physical Therapy demonstrated a therapy technique for rotator cuff problems.

Tiffany Penn, health and mental wellness educator, spoke on the psychology behind emotion-based or stress eating and ways to incorporate better nutrition.

Graham Hetrick, Dauphin County coroner and star of the television show "The Coroner: I Speak for the Dead," discussed the opioid epidemic and prescription-drug dependencies.
