The Berks County Sheep and Wool Growers Association will sponsor its annual "wool pool" on Friday, June 28, and Saturday, June 29. Wool will be collected at the Romano 4-H Center, 1841 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook, on June 28 from 3 to 7 p.m. and again at the Leesport Farmers Market, 312 Gernants Church Road, Leesport, from 8 a.m. to noon on June 29.
Wool will be purchased by Groenewold Fur and Wool Company out of Forreston, Ill. Producers are asked to bring their wool in burlap bags, but, if that is not possible, burlap bags will be offered for sale at each site. A minimal handling charge and a membership fee to join the Berks Association will be charged to cover costs.
