Banking Program Slated

The Department of Banking and Securities, along with the Pennsylvania Bankers Association and Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers, will hold the second Next Generation Bankers Academy from Monday, Aug. 19, through Friday, Aug. 23, at various locations in Lancaster. It will be free to participants.

The Academy provides college students an up-close look at various careers in the financial services industry and the opportunity to network with senior bank management officials. Registration is required, and a maximum of 30 college students can enroll.

Students will participate in interactive modules led by senior bank management from locally headquartered banks. The modules will focus on various financial services careers, including a simulated bank examination exercise. Upon completion, participants will earn a Pennsylvania Next Generation Bankers Academy certificate.

The Academy is one aspect of the Department of Banking and Securities' broader NextGen Initiative, which, along with the Insurance Department's NextGen Insurance Academy, is part of Gov. Tom Wolf's workforce development efforts. It is designed for rising college sophomores, juniors and seniors.

Registration is open through Sunday, June 30. To register, readers may visit https://bit.ly/2LGx4x0. For more information, readers may email Timothy Arthun tarthun@pa.gov.
