Penn State Extension Berks County, 1238 County Welfare Road, Leesport, will host a home food preservation class on Tuesday, July 9, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. "Tomatoes and Salsa" will be the theme. The class will cover the basics of water bath and atmospheric steam canning, recommendations on acidifying tomatoes and use of salt based on the latest USDA guidelines, use of research-tested recipes in canning salsa and other tomato products for safety, and fruit salsas.
