The African American Heritage Walking Tour will take place on Saturday, July 6. Tours will depart at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. from the Lancaster City Visitor Center, 38 Penn Square, Lancaster, and feature a tour of 14 historic sites in downtown Lancaster. Tickets will be available on July 6.
Independence and Wickets at Wheatland, a Living History at Wheatland program, will be held on July 6. Tours will begin at 1, 2, and 3 p.m. at President James Buchanan's Wheatland. In this first-person presentation, visitors will step back to the summer of 1867 and celebrate the Fourth of July with James Buchanan, his family, and friends.
What's Not to Love About a Bluebird, a Tanger Arboretum Nature Series program, will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 20. Dr. Dean Rust, president of the Bluebird Society of Pennsylvania, will lead a tour of the Tanger Arboretum to find out how many of the bluebird nesting boxes around the arboretum are occupied. He will also explain how to install nest boxes, what plants attract the birds, and more. Advance tickets are strongly recommended as programs typically sell out.
"Go at Your Own Pace" Saturday Tours at Wheatland will be offered on Saturday, July 27. Tour entries will be available every 15 minutes from 1 to 3 p.m. Guides will be stationed throughout the presidential mansion as visitors tour at their own pace. Ticket price also includes admission to the museum exhibitions at LancasterHistory.
Allegro Orchestra Lancaster will play a Sounds of Summer concert on Saturday, July 27, at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at http://www.allegrolancaster.org/concerts.
