The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center, located in the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown, invites area seniors to its upcoming programs. The center, a service of GEARS and the Lancaster County Office of Aging, is open regularly on Mondays through Fridays. On Thursday, July 11, the center will offer walking at 9 a.m., a craft class at 10 a.m., Mind Matters: Healthy Heart at 10:45 a.m., and pinochle at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be salisbury steak with gravy, cheddar whipped potatoes, sweet peas, white bread, and pears.
Activities on Friday, July 12, will include walking outside at 9 a.m., Bible Study or Table Games at 10 a.m., Who Dun It? at 11 a.m., and a TGIF dinner and pinochle party at 5 p.m. Lunch will be a sweet sausage sandwich with peppers and sauce on a whole-grain roll, cheesy hash browns, and fresh melon.
On Monday, July 15, the schedule will feature walking at 9 a.m., laddergolf at 9:30 a.m., Family Feud at 10:30 a.m., and pinochle at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be rotisserie chicken with gravy, whipped potatoes with chives, mixed vegetables, a whole-grain biscuit, and sliced peaches.
The center's activities on Tuesday, July 16, will be walking at 9 a.m., a morning stretch at 9:30 a.m., bingo at 10:30 a.m., and Reminisce - Making Do at 1 p.m. Lunch will be roast beef with au jus, roasted redskin potatoes with rosemary and garlic, green beans, wheat bread, and fresh fruit.
On Wednesday, July 17, the center will offer walking at 9 a.m., chair exercise at 9:30 a.m., Wii Bowling at 10 a.m., a medication take-back at 10 a.m., advisory council at 10:30 a.m., and Central Penn Commodity Food Boxes at 1 p.m. Lunch will be a baked breaded chicken cutlet, au gratin potatoes, carrots, wheat bread, and fruit gelatin.
Additionally, the center will host the Zembo Shrine Band for a concert and picnic lunch on Thursday, July 18, at 10:30 a.m. The picnic lunch will include a hot dog, chips, and apple pie. Readers may call the senior center to reserve a seat. Donations will be accepted at the door.
