The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center, located in the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown, invites area seniors to its upcoming programs. The center, a service of GEARS and the Lancaster County Office of Aging, is open regularly on Mondays through Fridays. On Thursday, Aug. 1, the center will offer walking at 9 a.m., crafts at 10:30 a.m., and pinochle at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be Santa Fe salad with mixed greens, diced chicken, and cheddar; roasted vegetables; a dinner roll; tortilla soup with tortilla strips; and pineapple tidbits.
Activities on Friday, Aug. 2, will include walking outside at 9 a.m., Bible study or table games at 10 a.m., summer Jeopardy at 11 a.m., and a TGIF dinner at 5 p.m. Lunch will be a chili cheese hot dog on a roll, warm potato salad, green beans, and cinnamon applesauce.
On Monday, Aug. 5, the schedule will feature walking outside at 9 a.m., shuffleboard at 9:30 a.m., a nutrition program at 10:30 a.m., and pinochle at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be roasted pork loin with gravy, stuffing, whipped potatoes, coleslaw, and sliced apples.
On Tuesday, Aug. 6, the center will offer walking outside at 9 a.m., a morning stretch at 9:30 a.m., an intergenerational activity at 9 a.m., and a 10-minute tasty tip at 1 p.m. Lunch will be a mild buffalo chicken sandwich on a roll with shredded lettuce, minestrone soup with crackers, and fresh cantaloupe.
Activities on Wednesday, Aug. 7, will include walking at 9 a.m., chair exercise at 9:30 a.m., Wii bowling and table games at 10 a.m., and bingo for bucks at 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be an egg omelet with cheese, sausage links, breakfast potatoes, a whole grain English muffin with jelly, and orange juice.
