Summer Reading for youths will end on Saturday, Aug. 10. Participants should make sure to have reading logs turned in by that date to be eligible for prizes. The Adult Summer Reading game will end on Saturday, Aug. 31.
Neill Hartley will portray Charles Lindbergh in "The Spirit of Lindbergh," a fully staged, one-man presentation on Thursday, Aug. 1, at 10:30 a.m. The program is for people age 7 and older. The show is based on Lindbergh's historic 1927 flight across the Atlantic Ocean, and it features Lindbergh planning his trip, navigating in the cockpit, and arriving in Paris.
A stuffed animal sleepover will begin on Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. with a story time. Participants should bring a stuffed animal to the library and then leave their pal for an overnight adventure. They may come back on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. to pick up their friend, enjoy light refreshments, and find out what the stuffed animals did at the library.
Get Ready for Kindergarten will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, Aug. 6 and 13. Parents whose child will start kindergarten this year may register for this two-session brush-up course for some kindergarten preparation.
Miss Jan will offer Family Story Time at the East Donegal Township Municipal Building, 190 Rock Point Road, Marietta, on Monday, Aug. 5, at 10:30 a.m. Activities will include stories, songs, and a craft based on a theme of the week.
For Lunch Bunch at noon on Tuesday, Aug. 6, attendees age 8 and up may bring a lunch and the book they are currently reading. There will be a mystery guest.
Lego Club, for people of all ages, will take place at 6 p.m. on Aug. 6. Legos will be provided.
Sing, Shake, and Sway Story Time, set for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, will encourage children to interact and move to songs and stories.
Snorey Time Story Time will be offered on Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. Attendees may wear pajamas and slippers.
Wee Build Free Build, set for Thursday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. to noon, will offer an opportunity to build with various materials.
An American Girl Party for children ages 6 to 10 will take place on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. Attendees may bring their favorite doll. The program will include American Girl stories, a craft, and light refreshments. Space is limited to 30 children.
Sensory Story Time will be offered for children ages 3 to 5 on Monday, Aug. 12, at 10:30 a.m. Sensory Story Time is ideal for children who are differently abled, who may be on the autism spectrum, who have sensory processing issues, or who feel overwhelmed by noises or crowds. Following story time, children can engage in 30 minutes of monitored social play. Space is limited.
Art in the Park will take place outside on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 1 p.m. Students age 7 and up will have the opportunity to create a piece of art using inspiration from a featured artist and media style.
Fun Family Book Bingo has been set for 6 p.m. on Aug. 13. Attendees are asked to bring a light snack to share.
Back to School is Cool, a family-friendly preparation program for the return to school, will be offered on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 10:30 a.m. and will include themed stories and an activity.
A Math Picnic will be held on Thursday, Aug. 15, at 11 a.m. Families may bring a picnic lunch and a blanket or chairs. Families may enjoy math stations around the yard before or after they have lunch.
Fun Fort Friday will be held on Friday, Aug. 16, at 5 p.m. Families may come to the library after hours and build a fort among the bookshelves. Attendees should bring their own blankets, and other items will be provided.
Family Story Time will be offered on Monday, Aug. 19, at 10:30 a.m. at the former First National Bank building, 100 Market St., Marietta. Families may enjoy stories, songs, and a craft based on a theme of the week.
Sing and Sign Story Time, during which basic American Sign Language is incorporated, will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21.
Read With Kirby will offer struggling readers an opportunity to practice reading aloud to Kirby, a Westie and certified therapy dog. Kirby will be available on Mondays at 6 p.m. Individuals should call Miss Jan to register.
Teen/Tween Night will take place on Friday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m. Participants will create a PowerPoint presentation with stuffed animals. Snacks will be provided.
Teen Anime for teenagers age 13 and up will feature anime films. The next session will take place on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 6 p.m.
Closely Knit, a group for people who are interested in knitting and crocheting, will meet on Mondays, Aug. 12 and 26, at 1 p.m. No registration is necessary.
Needle-Felting Friends Club will meet on Aug. 14 at 4:30 p.m. Victoria Hans, a local soft sculpture artist, will lead this monthly club for anyone who wants to learn the art of needle felting or for other needle-felters who would like to share ideas or work in a social setting. Learners will need to bring their own tools and materials.
The Book Discussion Group - The Classics will meet on Monday, Aug. 19, at 10:30 a.m. to discuss "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck.
Mastering Mobile Photography will take place on Aug. 19 at 10:30 a.m. Local photographer Deb Sauders will offer tricks and tips for taking great photos using a mobile device. She will also offer photography critiques. Space is limited.
The Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club will meet on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Attendees should bring their supplies.
The Writers' Circle, which is led by facilitator Ingrid Andersen, will meet on Monday, Aug. 26, at 6 p.m.
Paint Like a Pro will be offered on Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. Participants will need to supply their own canvas. They will paint a scene in the style of a 1970s and '80s bushy-haired painting guru. There is a fee to for instruction and painting supplies; the canvas is not included.
The Book Discussion Group - Lit Lovers will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss "Educated: A Memoir" by Tara Westover.
