County Parks Programs Set

Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation will offer programs to the community. Unless otherwise noted, there is a per-person fee for the programs, and activities will take place at the Environmental Center in Lancaster County Central Park, 1 Nature's Way, Lancaster. "What's the Buzz About Bees?" will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10, from 10 to 11 a.m. Participants will listen to a story, make a craft, and learn about bees from a naturalist. The program is geared to children age 10 and under.

A Ted Parker Stream Hike for people of all ages will be offered from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11, in the lower parking lot at Theodore Parker Natural Area, 244 Wesley Road, Quarryville. A naturalist will lead a hike up the middle of the creek. Participants will have the option to carry nets and buckets to catch critters in the creek. Equipment will be provided. Everyone must wear tie-on, closed-toe shoes without exception.

"Raising Mealworms" will take place on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. With naturalist Lisa J. Sanchez, participants will learn how to buy mealworms and raise them to adulthood. The program is open to people of all ages.

"Full Moon in the Wildflower Meadow" for people of all ages will be held on Aug. 15 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Participants will join naturalist Lisa J. Sanchez for a walk in the meadow under the full moon while listening to nighttime sounds. The walk will begin at the Muhlenberg Meadow lot, 548 Golf Road, Lancaster.

"Insta-meet: Scout Trail" will be offered on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Attendees may bring their own phones and explore the Scout Trail and Kurtz Covered Bridge to take photos. Naturalist Kristyn Small will lead the program, which is geared to children age 10 and up.
