Dog Agility Challenge Slated

Aug 06, 2019 -

The third annual Agility Charity Challenge will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Thursday, Aug. 8, at the Bella Vista Training Center, 730 Mount Airy Road, Lewisberry. The event will feature all-breed agility trials with the special team competition. The event began on Aug. 6.

In three levels of agility competitions, dogs will race the clock as they maneuver through an obstacle course with hurdles, weave poles, tunnels and more. Dogs that are not entered in competitions are not permitted on show grounds.

Proceeds from the three-day event will benefit three dog-related charities. The AKC Canine Health Foundation funds research to prevent, treat and cure canine disease to help fellow canine companions. The foundation's efforts include epilepsy and cancer research grants. The Dog TAGS organization helps veterans who have service-related PTSD or a traumatic brain injury; with assistance, the veterans train their own dogs to be their certified service dogs. The American Bullmastiff Association (ABA) Health and Research Fund collaborates with the Breeder's Education Committee to conduct research to advance the health and well-being of the Bullmastiff breed.

Admission is free. The event is jointly sponsored by the Bella Vista Training Center, the Dauphin Dog Training Club, the Keeshond Club of Delaware Valley, and the American Bullmastiff Association.
