September House Posts Schedule

September House, 1251 W. King St., York, has posted its upcoming schedule of activities. A free lunch is available on weekdays for any York County resident at least 60 years of age. For more information, readers may call 717-848-4417.

A planning meeting will be held on Thursday, Aug. 15, at 10:30 a.m. Members are encouraged to share ideas about future activities. All are welcome to give feedback and discuss the upcoming calendar. On Friday, Aug. 16, there will be two planning sessions for trips, with the 2020 cruise covered from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and the September trip to Ocean City, Md., discussed from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

For those who would like to learn the art of wood burning, appropriate tools and members with the appropriate skills will be on hand from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 16 to help attendees get started. Also on Aug. 16 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., the "Experiencing God" Bible study will continue.

York Revolution "Hunger Free Mondays" are back, and the center will provide a carpool to the games. A donation of a can of nonperishable food provides a free ticket to the game. Monday, Aug. 19, will include a tour of the stadium, with reservations required.

Little house decor will be made out of craft sticks, small artificial flowers and lace with Linda on Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 9 to 11 a.m. Immediately after will be a Now You Have It game, with participants asked to bring a wrapped gift of a set value, new or gently used.

On Wednesday, Aug. 21, the Old Testament Great Courses lecture series will continue at 10:30 a.m. with "The Jacob Saga." Scrapbooking will be offered on Thursday, Aug. 22, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., with attendees asked to bring photos and projects; attendees may just observe as well. Also on Aug, 22, the amateur (ham) radio group will meet to discuss its field day and plan for its next event.

"God's Not Dead: A Light in the Darkness" (part 3 of the series) will be shown on Friday, Aug. 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. Susan will offer free sweet treats during the movie.

Games are played throughout the week. Bingo is played on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:45 p.m., with the first card free, and on Wednesdays for all cash as a fundraiser, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and bingo starting at 6:30 p.m. The center offers shuffleboard on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m., and additional players are being sought. All are welcome to play or watch. Board games, cards and jigsaw puzzles are also available.

On weekdays, a free lunch is served to any York County resident at least 60 years of age. Volunteers are also sought to deliver hot meals to home-bound seniors three mornings a week, with training provided. Volunteer work may be tax-deductible.
