An AARP Smart Driver Refresher Class will be offered on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 5 to 9 p.m.
A Lunch and Learn with Frey Village is slated for Monday, Aug. 19, at noon. The lunch will consist of chicken cordon bleu, spring green salad, mashed sweet potatoes, fresh julienned vegetables, and peach parfait. The program will focus on how technology may impact how people live and age, as well as how older adults are cared for. Space is limited and registration is due by Thursday, Aug. 15.
A National Senior Citizen Day Open House will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 21. All programs will be open to the community. Snacks will be provided in the lobby throughout the day, and tours of the senior center will be available. Attendees may learn about volunteer opportunities. Featured events will include tap dancing and Pilates at 8:30 a.m., paraffin hand treatments by Country Meadows of Hershey from 9 to 11 a.m., line dancing at 10:30 a.m., chair massages by LiveWell Body Works from 1 to 3 p.m., bingo at 1 p.m., Zumba Gold at 1:30 p.m., chair yoga at 2:30 p.m., and Silver Sneakers exercise at 4 p.m.
Medicare 101 will be offered on Thursday, Aug. 22, at 9 a.m. Dauphin County Apprise counselors will provide information for those who are soon to be on Medicare, are new to Medicare, or have questions. Lunch and Learn with Harmony at Hershey, a new local retirement community, will take place on Monday, Aug. 26 at noon. The program will include a silent auction, prizes and a trivia game. Lunch will be a tri-salad plate with a roll and dessert. The lunch is free, but registration is due by Thursday, Aug. 22.
An Investment Fraud Bingo Lunch and Learn will take place on Monday, Sept. 9. The Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities will run interactive bingo to teach attendees how to protect themselves from investment fraud. Lunch will be soup and sandwiches with dessert. The lunch is free, but registration is due by Thursday, Sept. 5.
A "Christmas With the Philly Pops" trip will be offered on Friday, Dec. 20, with an 8:30 a.m. departure from the center and an approximate 8:30 p.m. return. The group will visit Love Park for shopping, weather permitting. In the case of inclement weather, attendees will visit a different location. Following lunch, the group will go to the Kimmel Center for the show, which will feature the Philly Pops Festival Chorus, Philadelphia Boys Choir, African Episcopal Church Choir, organist Peter Conte, and vocalist Mandy Gonzalez. There is a cost, and registration is required by Friday, Nov. 1.
