York Habitat for Humanity will hold a breakfast in partnership with the Black Ministers Association to announce the 2019 Faith Build, a partnership between York Habitat, Thrivent Financial and local churches. The breakfast will take place on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 7:45 a.m. at Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene's City Campus, 350 Chestnut St., York.
Faith Build will build the first of 14 new homes at the site of York Habitat's Chestnut Street Revitalization project, where fire destroyed 16 homes in July 2009. The lots were acquired through an agreement with the Redevelopment Authority of the City of York and private owners.
The purpose of this breakfast is to show how local churches can unite to serve those most in need in the community. To register for the breakfast by the Monday, Sept. 9, deadline or for more information, readers may email athena@yorkhabitat.org. Applications for the homes are also being accepted. Readers may visit http://www.yorkhabitat.org or email terri@yorkhabitat.org to learn more.
A land dedication ceremony will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m. at the 700 block of East Chestnut Street in York city. This event will be open to the public.
