Matthew J. Dougherty was selected to receive the John O. Hanna Scholarship Award from Northwest Bank. The scholarship is in the amount of $2,000 for the 2019-20 academic school year.
The purpose of the scholarship is to assist the children of employees of Northwest Bank and its affiliates in furthering their education. An outside committee not associated with Northwest awards the scholarships based on grades, financial need, student essays, and letters of recommendation.
Dougherty is a Conestoga Valley High School graduate and a junior at Bloomsburg University, where he is majoring in economics. He is the son of Ed Dougherty of Lancaster and the late Teri Dougherty.
