The senior center is planning a night out at Hoss's on White Street in York as a fundraiser on Friday, Nov. 8. In preparation for the event, the center is selling gift cards, which will be ordered in time for buyers to use for the November event. The center will receive a portion of the proceeds from gift card sales; funds will be used to help provide programs for seniors. Readers may call Marie at the center for more information.
Penny will visit the center on Friday, Sept. 6, at 1 p.m. to lead karaoke.
Scrapbookers are invited to share their scraps, tools, and talent on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. All are welcome. Participants should bring photos and memorabilia to use as they arrange pages. In conjunction with making scrapbooks, the center will offer classes on Tuesday, Sept. 10, to teach how to organize and print pictures from an iPhone or an Android device. Attendees will learn to set up albums and move pictures from one place to another. A second class will be available on Thursday, Sept. 12, if needed. Both classes will run from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
On Wednesday, Sept. 11, exercising (dancing) to music will be offered starting at 10 a.m. Participants will practice old and new dances.
The movie "Runaway Bride" will be shown from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13. Free sweet treats will be served during the movie.
Games are played throughout the week. Bingo is played on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:45 p.m., with the first card free, and on Wednesdays for all cash as a fundraiser, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and bingo starting at 6:30 p.m. The center offers shuffleboard on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m., and additional players are being sought. All are welcome to play or watch. Board games, cards, and jigsaw puzzles are also available.
