The Millersville Area Historical Society (MAHS) will hold a slideshow presentation on "Metalworking From the 1700s to the Present" when it meets at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, in the Millersville municipal center, 100 Municipal Drive. Philip Biechler, longtime sculptor and metalsmith, will be the speaker.
His talk will cover various metalworking techniques and equipment that were employed in the blacksmithing and gunsmithing trades from the 1700s onward, including the Civil War era. Biechler also will point out advancements in equipment and techniques that evolved through the years. A question-and-answer period will conclude the meeting.
