The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center, located in the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown, invites area seniors to its upcoming programs. The center, a service of GEARS and the Lancaster County Office of Aging, is open regularly on Mondays through Fridays. On Thursday, Sept. 5, the schedule will include walking at 9 a.m., craft class at 10:30 a.m., Scrabble or Upwords at 11:15 a.m., and pinochle at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be turkey chef salad with mixed greens, cucumbers, cheese and eggs, along with summer corn chowder.
Activities on Friday, Sept. 6, will include walking at 9 a.m., Bible study or table games at 10 a.m., Medicare updates at 11 a.m., and a TGIF dinner at 5 p.m. Lunch will be roast beef au jus, roasted redskin potatoes with rosemary and garlic, green beans, wheat bread, and a fresh banana.
On Monday, Sept. 9, the schedule will include walking at 9 a.m., shuffleboard at 9:30 a.m., bingo at 10:30 a.m., and pinochle at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be chicken marsala, bowtie pasta, peas, wheat bread and mixed fruit.
The schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 10, will feature walking at 9 a.m., Nutrition With Kilene at 10 a.m., and a 10-Minute Tasty Tip at 1 p.m. Lunch will be baked meatloaf with gravy, a baked potato, wax beans, wheat bread and fresh melon.
The center's activities on Wednesday, Sept. 11, will include walking at 9 a.m., bingo exercise at 9:30 a.m., Wii Bowling or table games at 10 a.m., and Ukulele Band at 2 p.m. Lunch will be a breaded chicken cutlet, au gratin potatoes, carrots, white bread and fruited gelatin.
On Saturday, Sept. 21, the center will hold its Fall Gift Basket Bingo event. Doors and the kitchen will open at noon, with bingo starting at 2 p.m. Those interested in sponsoring a basket may call the center.
