The public is encouraged to get involved in the Watershed Alliance of York's 17th Watershed Weekends from Wednesday, Sept. 18, through Sunday, Sept. 29. The purpose of the event is to get to know local watersheds and meet the folks and organizations that are working to enhance, restore, and protect them.
There will be 13 venues in which to participate, including a rain barrel presentation, a make-and-take rain barrel workshop, an Envirothon clay shoot fundraiser, a Rambo Run stream study, the York city fall cleanup, the 19th Codorus Creek cleanup, the Youth and Family Fun Conservation and Fishing Day, the Community Blooms Rain Garden Planting/Workshop, the Dam-Bridge Challenge, the Pawpaw Festival, an "All About Rain Gardens" demonstration, and the Pawpaw Food Fest.
A free Watershed Weekends guide, with details about each event, is available at http://www.watershedallianceofyork.org. Readers may also pick up a guide at local libraries, municipal offices, venue sponsor locations, and the York County Annex at Pleasant Acres.
