York County Economic Alliance (YCEA) will host Democracy Challenge, a new event, in partnership with York College of Pennsylvania. Presented by Comcast, the program will bring two public figures of differing viewpoints to a stage to debate one policy issue over a 60-minute timeframe. The participants will strive to reach a compromise on a policy solution by the end of the 60 minutes.
On Wednesday, Sept. 18, starting at 5 p.m., the inaugural event will host Ed Rendell and Mark Schweiker, former governors of Pennsylvania, to discuss the role states play in immigration reform. The Democracy Challenge will be held at Waldner Performing Arts Center at York College of Pennsylvania, 441 Country Club Road, York.
