Ballroom Dance Event Planned

York USA Dance Chapter 3008 will hold a social ballroom dance on Sunday, Sept. 15, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Alert Fire Hall, 3118 N. George St., Emigsville. The event is open to dancers of all styles, ages and experience levels. The September dance will feature a foxtrot lesson by chapter director Bill Baker and his wife, Lynette, from 3 to 4 p.m. followed by open dancing to music by Studio 5 until 7 p.m. There will also be a waltz demonstration by chapter treasurer Clement Ho and Tina Intact, who have been dancing partners since 2008.

Admission to the event, which includes the lesson, the dance and refreshments, has been set for members, guests and students with ID. Donations of appetizers, desserts and snacks for the refreshment buffet are appreciated.

Also this month, the chapter will conduct its annual survey. The chapter invites suggestions and comments from everyone about how to improve the quality of its dances. Comments may be sent to yorkchapter3008@gmail.com.

For people interested in getting started in partner dancing or enhancing their dancing skills, Central York School District will offer three levels of ballroom dance classes through its community adult education program, beginning the week of Monday, Sept. 23.
